travel theme
there are maps and then there are stamps. squares or rectangles of drawings as part of collage which represent stamps. which would solve my composition problem are is way easier to annotate and label. hmm

some collages, after Richard Russell (who does fucking amazing encaustic collages — http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucky_devil_7/2602840494/) — linseed oil makes paper transparent. grease in general does; something to do with altering the chemical (?? - structural?) composition of paper. makes for some really gorgeous effects since you can layer lots of paper and still glimpse the wood...

i think i never used to like sketchbooks because a) it felt like a waste of paper b) i wanted it to be absolutely perfect on the first go i’m loosening up a bit more with regards to a) since collage mandates a lot of paper and such being used… and still trying to get it good with b). though i wouldn’t admit it to the exam board, keeping a sketchbook is a good practice, even if...

shells: some free-writing
a mollusc lived here for a few years and it was very lonely. how did it survive? by waiting. it would stare out of a tiny hole, poke a slender tendril out and feel the ice cold salty rush of seawater pulsating. then it would withdraw. some free-writing for a collage. i wonder how these creatures pass time under the ocean.
